PS3 to get BD-Live & new features this month

A significant update for the PlayStation 3 is planed for release later this month, which will update the console to Blu-ray Disc Profile 2.0 (BD-Live) and offer additional features and improvements.  This update will enable photos and music playlists to be copied to a PlayStation Portable, use the PSP as a music playback remote control for the PS3, stream videos from webpages and support DivX and WMV files larger than 2GB in size.

One of the main features BD-Live will provide includes the ability to download bonus content for titles, such as bonus movie scenes, subtitles, trailers and access interactive content such as games.  Those who tend to watch movies in parts, such as half one day and the rest later on would be happy to know that this PS3 update enables users to resume playback of certain Blu-ray titles even if the disc had been removed since the last playback.

To begin making use of BD-Live, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is set to release two movie titles "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" and "The 6th Day" on April 8th that will take advantage of exclusive downloadable content.  Unfortunately, those who currently own standalone Blu-ray players will not be able to take advantage of Blu-ray Disc Profile 2.0 and the first BD-Live capable standalone players have still yet to reach the market.

This is good news. Now if only they had this capability in a standalone blu-ray player that was priced reasonably - it might actually matter in the overall scheme of things . . . :X
Good thing I already own ps3. no worries for me at least.
