Philips introduces portable combo drive (CD-RW/DVD player)

Mr. Belvedere used our newssubmit to tell us that on the Dutch Philips website we can find a press release in which Philips announces their latest product, the JackRabbit Combo.

The drive is an external combo drive (32x10x40x/12x) and can be used as an external CD ReWriter, DVD player and MP3 player. More interesting is that the JackRabbit Combo can play both DVD and MP3 without being connected to a computer.

JackRabbit Combo Specs:

3 in 1: External CD ReWriter, DVD player and MP3 player. The DVD and MP3 do not need a computer connection to play. Dolby 5.1 output possible.

CD ReWriter: 32x10x40x (USB2.0), DVD reading 12x. Wireless remote control. Direct connection to your TV.

Seamless Link: buffer underrun protection with 8 MB buffer. Supports Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP, Mac (OS X). Two year warranty.

The Philips JackRabbit Combo will be available in January 2003 and will have an estimate price of 299 euros. People who can read Dutch can find the full press release here.
