Philips tunes into recordable 15 GB MP3 player, competes Apple Ipod
Cnet.com reports that Philips will be releasing
a recordable MP3 player with a 15 GB hard drive build in. The device weighs
about 167 grams and should be smaller then any other device currently available
on the market. The device is able to recorder music and connects to a home
computer using the USB2.0 interface.
More compact MP3 players like the Ravemetal CardRec from
Japan has built-in audio
recording capabilities, but their flash memory-based storage is very much
smaller than the 15GB available on Philip's new gadget.
The HDD100
supports USB 2.0, which allows users to transfer audio files between the
player and a personal computer about 40 times faster than USB 1.1 ports
found in older computers. It also sports other frills such as a remote control and a
software-based navigational interface.

The
device is able to play both WMA and MP3 files, unfortunately no pricing details
are disclosed. More information can be found in this article on Cnet.com
