NetBlender's newest technology enhances the capabilities of BD Live by enabling two-way communication between a Blu-ray player and Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch. The technology is called BD Touch and allows consumers to interact with BD content through Apple's devices.

BD Touch uses the network connection from the Blu-ray player and interacts through the Wi-Fi connection on the iPhone. Many types of content can be transferred. Video, audio, text and player commands can be handled. "Having spent the past decade building interactive video products we are thrilled to bring together two of the most interactive consumer products ever created with BD Touch," said John Harrington, NetBlender CEO. Harrington says that NetBlender began its research and development after he had experienced iPhone's Multi-Touch interface.

The technology was once created to combine the iPhone's mobility with Blu-ray's entertainment factor. It was said earlier, but here is a reminder: BD Touch enhances the capabilities of BD Live. So, at first BD Touch will be a PS3-only technology. BD Touch can push digital copies of movies to an iPhone from the Blu-ray disc menu and it turns existing Blu-ray discs into games that use the iPhone as the game controller.

It doesn't really matter if you hate Sony or not, but the fact that a mobile device can interact with your Playstation must be nice.
