Recently some
rumors appeared on the internet that the PX-708A, Plextors latest dual format
DVD recorder, would write 8x at 4x DVD+R media. The rumors appeared first on the
forums of our friends of CDRLabs and mentioned on our forum in this thread. Today we are able to confirm these rumors. Plextor
has confirmed that the drive will be able to write 8x to some 4x DVD+R
media brands.
The drive should be available in stores within the next
two weeks and 8x DVD+R media is currently scheduled for release in about a month
or later. This would mean that the 8x function of the drive would be rendered
useless, but due research of Plextor there is a way around this.
However, the drive will only write these speeds on a limited amount of
media, a list of this media will be released in a couple of days.

Considering that they said PLUS R media, a good bet is Ricoh 4x +R. Not only is it good, it's widely used and tested.
If TY made 4x +R media, It'd probably be on the list
Taiyo Yuden do make x4 +r media - it has the 'That's' brand made by Taiyo Yuden (branded discs) in Japan, available from SVP for £1.70 exc. in a jewel case (I would rather have them in a tub).
Burnt nearly ten of them, run a scandisk on then and all fine so far.
