Plextor 4x DVD+R writer drive and Verbatim 4x DVD+R media should make a best combination. :)
Bah! Gimmie a LiteOn dual rewriter. DVD-R media is a lot cheaper over here in the UK also.
Then ask the media manufacturers and importers to supply 4x DVD+R. :)
This is an NEC ND-1100A. It doesn't have DVD- capabilities because NEC is preventing their partners to get that capability in the firmware, even though the drive is phsyically capable. NEC will be releasing a DVD- DVD+ drive in March. That's why this drive isn't being released with DVD-.
@PreacherBoy

If you can tell us about it more, post on the forum thread #60975 please. :)
I could, but no thanks.
Preacherboy : Dunno about that mate. Since when did Plextor EVER use another drive and relabel it? I can't think of a single instance.

A bit of a disappointing start for Plex though, I was hoping for a dual drive. Guess Lite-On will up to come up with the goods :4
PeteB, the rumor is intresting, and I have asked Plextor for a reply. Your statement about Plextor not using another drive and relabelling it is not true.

We recently discovered that this Plextor drive is a rebadged Teac and we have another model that is a rebadged NEC.

But as said, we're waiting for a reply from Plextor.
Wow I stand corrected, thanks DoMiN8ToR. Thing is that I'm more disappointed in Plextor.

Seems that PC bits are going the way of cars, in that there are only 4 manufacturers or so in the world, and the rest are just rebadged :(
They've used NEC before, in the case of the slim-line CD-R/RW DVD-ROM combo. As DoMiN8ToR pointed out, the latest slim-line is a TEAC DW-224E.

Maybe Plextor will answer you, but I doubt it. At any rate, they are NEC drives. I don't post rumors.
