Plextor Offers Complete RoHS Compliant Line of Optical Disc Drives With Shipment of 16X DVD+/-R Burner With Serial ATA Interface; New AUTOSTRATEGY Automatically Checks User Media and Develops Unique Write Strategy for High-Quality Recording

FREMONT, Calif.--March 20, 2006--Plextor(R) Corp., a leading developer and manufacturer of high-performance digital media equipment, today announced the immediate availability of the PX-755SA DVD+/-R/RW CD-R/RW optical disc drive. The PX-755SA replaces the PX-716SA, completing Plextor's conversion to drive designs that comply with the European Union's Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) legislation.

The multifunction internal PX-755SA drive is aimed at Value Added Resellers and System Integrators who require Serial ATA (SATA) connectivity, industry leading reliability, and premium recording features. The PX-755SA delivers recording speeds of 16X DVD+/-R on certified 16X DVD+/-R media. Users can burn up to four hours of high-quality MPEG-2/DVD video on a single 8.5 GB disc using 10X DVD+R on Double-Layer media and 6X DVD-R on Dual Layer media. The drive also supports 8X DVD+RW, 6X DVD-RW Rewriting; 16X max DVD-Reading; 48X CD-R Writing, 24X CD-RW Rewriting, and 48X max CD-Reading.

The PX-755SA DL DVD+/-R/RW Drive

The internal PX-755SA drive features an integrated Serial ATA interface, enabling resellers and integrators to leverage the benefits of SATA connectivity, which includes 150 MB/sec bandwidth, elimination of master/slave configuration jumper issues, substantial pin count reduction, and thinner cables to help air-flow and improve cable routing.

The PX-755SA has a 2 MB buffer and features Buffer Underrun Proof Technology to prevent buffer underrun errors and allow multi-tasking. The PX-755SA also features AUTOSTRATEGY, a technology that selects the optimized write strategy for every DVD disc and, if necessary, creates a new write strategy for unknown media. (DVD+/-R). Plextor Software Bundle for Windows

The PX-755SA Series drive includes PlexTools(R) Professional software, a unique combination of user-controllable CD recording and CD/DVD media test features, including PlexEraser(TM), Q-Check(TM), GigaRec(TM), SecureRecording, Silent Mode(TM), and VariRec(TM).

Plextor's bundled software package offers ease-of-use and extensive functionality for Windows platforms. The PX-755SA drive ships with the award-winning Roxio(R) Easy Media Creator(TM) 7, Basic DVD Edition software suite for burning video, music, photos, and data to DVD or CD.
