Plextor announces ultimate CD Burner (Press Release)
Internal Drive Features 52X CD-R Performance and Easy Media Creator 9 for Data

Plextor® LLC announced the immediate availability of the PX-240A Ultimate 3-in-1 CD-RW Drive. The new CD-R/RW/ROM drive is RoHS compliant and fully compatible with the new Windows® Vista™ operating system. The PX-240A drive introduces a new level of CD drive performance and features – all backed by Plextor’s reputation for quality.

The PX-240A 3-in-1 CD-RW drive delivers lightening fast CD recording speeds of 52X CD-R and 32X CD-RW, as well as 52X CD-ROM playback, with broad-base CD media compatibility. The drive features a 2MB buffer and Buffer Underrun Proof Technology to prevent buffer underrun errors and allow multi-tasking. High-quality Digital Audio Extraction (DAE) eliminates pops, clicks, and hisses for superior sound quality. The PX-240A also supports Ultra DMA-2 for fast data transfer, and S/PDIF connector for digital audio equipment. For easy connectivity with personal computers running the Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista operating systems, the new internal Plextor drive features an E-IDE ATAPI interface.

The PX-240A drive ships with the award-winning Roxio® Easy Media Creator™ 9 for Data software suite for burning video, music, photos, and data to DVD or CD.

Plextor’s PX-240A CD-RW drive ships to distributors in North and South America in March 2007, with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $59.00 USD. All retail packages include one-year full warranty and unlimited toll-free technical support.

Am I reading this right? "CD-RW Drive"? Just making sure what the fuss is about.

it's all about professional mastering. If you need a quality drive to master some audio data, the plextor drive is the solution. Think about sending a sont to a contest: will you trust a low-quality low-price drive or go for highest quality money can buy?

>cozappz $59 price point (half of the usual price for plextor) and only 2MB buffer compared to 8MB on Premium/Premium2 makes me certain that this is just a rebadge of some other drive, lite-on or whatever. Notice how press release doesn't mention any of the Plextor exclusive technologies such as securec and varirec. All of this means this is just another lite-on with plextor badge on top of it.

Oh pleeease, A "CD-RW" (not to mention ATAPI puke ) in April 2007? Come on ppl! There are decades of high quality cd/dvd burners around to pick, I can't find even ONE to pick this one...

Sounds like a 4 year old press release (except for the vista bit)

For the same price, i can buy 2x LG H22L Lightscribe DVD burners. So this is something to get excited about??!

SithTracyIt's not even made by Plextor puke .

thyfleshconsumed & SithTracy> sorry, didn't check the premium/premium2. It seems you're both right !!

DeadManI must admit that most DVD burners don't burn CD's as well as some of the old Lite-On CD burners. Quality is an issue.

"fully compatible with the new Windows® Vista™ operating system", just don't expect to install Vista from it.
