Plextor has issued a press release announcing two 20x DVD burners. The PX-820A is the IDE/ATAPI version, the PX-820SA is the SATA version and include 20x DVD-R and DVD+R burning as well 12x dual layer burning DVD-R and 8x dual layer burning on the DVD+R format.
Also DVD-RAM is supported as well and DVD-RAM discs can be read and written at 12x. The drives come with Nero Express 7 SE. The PX-820A and PX-820SA will both be available from end of july 2008.

Who cares? Plextor is old news. Their drives are overpriced. And who's going to burn DVDs at 20x anyway? I'm pretty sure most people burn at 8x for safety. Pure marketing, I tells ya. Do yourself a favour and buy a Pioneer drive for $30.
Plextors are just not Plextors anymore or did they decide to really come back? I bet this is just a rebadged Drive???
Plextor are a bit behind the times. They were good maybe five years ago but now the optical DVD market is saturated with similar-speced and priced burners.
According to Videohelp
OEM: Sony-NEC
Chipset: NEC
Approx $ 65.00

Plextor should just sell out to one of the other general burner companies such as samsung, pioneer, sony, lg, memorex... there's little room in the dvd burner market for an over priced product.. as blue ray manufacturers can attest to...
Its really a shame as there old drives were really good Im still running one of the last orig drives they made and its a great drive
