Porn studio to release movies in the Blu-ray Disc format

If porn will have any influence over the outcome of the format war then the Blu-ray camp has got a good start because Xbiz reports that Digital Playground has decided to launch high definition porn in the BD format:

'Companies selling PlayStation 3 will have Blu-ray built in, which will make it into homes faster," Digital Playground co-founder Joone told XBiz. 'The security features of Blu-ray also are really good for copyright protection."

 

PS3 is scheduled to hit stores during the first quarter of 2006, which has motivated Digital Playground to act quickly, though the company has planned for this move for almost three years. The company's first releases in Blu-ray formatting will follow the release of PS3, most likely beginning with 'Fever Island 3" and 'Pirates."

The release date for the PS3 sounds quite unrealistic though as most believe Sony will launch the PS3 this spring at the very earliest. So you will probably have to wait a few more months before you can buy those Blu-ray porn movies

Digital playground know what their doing. Their DVD's are high quality and professionally done. The trouble is most other studios won't do very good quality stuff.

It depends. It'll be nicer watching big jugs in higher resolution. However, I'm not too keen on seeing zits covered up by make up.

High Def porn is not going to be a major selling point for either format. It was in the VHS v Betamax battle because there was then a choice between porn or no porn - people chose porn devil This simply isn't the case for high def.

crustyteacupyou can already download hi def porn from the net, it comes in .wmv format. except my pc sometimes struggles to play it properly, but you can clearly see a difference! i will never go and buy a porn dvd (or blu-ray etc) anyways, i will however pay for it to download it, just not buy it from a shop!

Actually guys, believe me, you may not want HD porn as much as you think. A few too many details come through in HD, like wrinkles and rashes and other nasties that you wouldn't see in SD.

The PS3 is not coming out soon. And no we don't need 5.0 surround sound you muppets, we need 7.1 so I can hear where that Seinfeld-esque slap bass is coming from. High definition video is already here, you muppets! It's just that the diamond blokes at Xbiz will be able to give us more and longer (no pun intended) when blue ray arrives. On the other hand, we should just skip all that and get these dirty slags direct to my bedroom and sharpish. biggrin

Imagine seeing butt acne in high def? Ick Among other things, as mentioned, rashes, etc. My porn is currently fine in non high def formats, HD isnt a selling point for me when it comes to porn. Though I do hope decisions like this will help one format win out over the other. Even though i think both are overrated at this point. Gimme holographic storage =o
