Record FM streams to low quality MP3...

A new portable MP3 player from Creative Labs could win fans since it includes a built-in FM radio and can record music.

But before you log off of Napster and rush out to buy one, be advised that the SDMI-compliant device doesn't record in high, or even medium fidelity.

The Nomad II MG, which began shipping Tuesday, comes with a 32-channel programmable FM radio tuner and can save music onto the device.

The idea of the portable MP3 players that include a radio isn't new, but one able to record from the radio is.

"This is a more high-end product than we've done before; it's the best that we have to offer feature wise," said Christi Wilkerson, product manager for portable audio at Creative Labs, Inc.
