agentk7Anyone vouch for this brand name? Do they normally sound pretty good? I'd be concerned the sound quality would be poor. This unit seems like a cool idea, but looks like it has a cheap build quality. I do like the idea of being able to play with removable media. Since it's solid state, it should last longer then the cd player, virtually no skipping, etc.

Old news. Walmart has been stocking this exact stereo locally for the last month. You can even order it online for $80 at walmart.com. http://walmart.scosche-cars.com/products/?sfID1=24&productID=1652&walmartProductID=4744710 I plan on getting one as I've played with the demos at walmart and they sound pretty good.

Always known for CHEAP as in crappy. But for the price, and those particular features, I don't see how you could go wrong.

Bought one. Installed relatively easy in '97 Ford Ranger with Premium Sound System. Sounds good. One negative complaint; AUX input should have been part of unit vice part of removable faceplate. Also AUX input much lower volume level that other inputs. Would be nice if the MP3 player would take the files on a MEM-Card and play them in Track number order. Had to precede each track with track number and place in 'album' folder to play in correct sequence. Very pleased with cost/value of this unit. Considering second purchase for other vehicle.

DON'T BUY IT! I had to return 1st one because usb/sd portion kept freezing up the unit. Replacement unit worked for about 2 months and then smoke started coming out of the face plate. PIECE OF CRAP! BTW I had it installed by a reputible car stereo installation business. So it WAS NOT due to installation. It is worth it to spend more money on a better unit.

I second the don't buy one recommendation. Does not recognize playlists and will always start a track from the beginning after power off or mode switch. Frown

Does the Roadmaster VR3 support the shuffle feature? Also, does this car stereo remember the song it is playing in USB/SD Memory mode after the car/engine has been off and then turned back on, or will always start a track from the beginning after power off or mode switch? Somebody please help me.

The Roadmaster VR3 does support the shuffle feature, under the "RDM" label. The only setback with this car stereo, however, is that it does not remember what part of the song it was last playing on after the car has been off and then turned back on whenever in CD/USB/SD Memory mode. In other words, it will always start a track from the beginning after power off or after mode switch, which may be problematic for some--not me, though. I can live with it. Now, if this feature were implemented, not only would this marvelous stereo be innovative but celebrated as well by those alienated and disfranchised due to a missing feature. Do note that you have to press on the clock button each and every time you wish to view the time. But the advantages clearly outweigh the negatives. To have both the USB and SD Car slots actually work is more than this customer can ask for. This is truly a clever device and definitely a keeper. I haven\'t had any problems with this product whatsoever. Great car stereo. On that note...if you pay close attention to that movie Superbad, you\'ll notice that in a scene Seth has the same car stereo--well, the VRCD500SDU model, anyway--which is cool, you know, because these kids (Seth and Evan) are nerds, so you know they gotta know a thing or two about technology. That's why to see them have a Roadmaster VR3 speaks for itself. Cool movie, by the way, taking into consideration that I found Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin boring. Further, what is the difference between this stereo and the VRCD500SDU you wonder. The 2 models are exactly the same except for the faceplate design. Nothing else changes. I know because I have both, the VRCD400SDU for myself and the other one I bought it for my brother as a present. Our VR3's are still working.

Hear!...Hear! on the "don't buy" opinion!  Had the unit (VRCD400SDU) professionally installed and was initially really impressed with all the features as well as the sound.  Have had unit since April 2008.  The stereo had a habit of going into auto scan or search mode on certain channel pre-sets while listening to those channels.  The CD player skipped when hitting bumps in road,  would stop playing in middle of songs until ejected and re-inserted.  The CDs by the way were clean, not dirty.  The CD player was also scratching my discs while it still functioned (scratches in the direction of spin).  The CD player has completely crapped out now and won't play anything.  A real disappointment.  I for one won't buy another Roadmaster product.
