Samsung BD-P1000 Blu-ray Player reviewed @ITWire
ITWire published today a nice review of the Samsung BD-P1000 Blu-ray Player. The main features of this player are described, and also an interesting aspect is reviewed: the upscaling capabilities to watch "old" DVD discs on a large screen.

According to the review, using a 40 inch Sony Bravia KDL-40X2000 high definition LCD and a HDMI cable, the difference between Blu-ray and DVD was noticeable but not striking. Obviously, this is also related on the encoding quality of the DVD: a heavy compressed movie will appear with a lower quality.

According to the review, however, switching from HDMI cable to three component video cables - using the red, green and blue video connectors found on the back of most DVD players caused a heavy drop in quality.

More details can be read in the original article.
