Samsung has announced its fourth generation Blu-ray player. Their latest model, the BD-P1500 can upconvert standard DVDs to 720p, 1080i and 1080p resolutions and offers full HD video playback capabilities (1080p/1080i/720p)
The player is able to connect to other HD devices trough a HDMI 1.3 port (1 out, 2 in) HDMI CEC or Component Video, S-Video outputs. It also has BD Profile 1.1 Bonus View and is BD Live Ready. Users are able to upgrade the device trough a built-in Ethernet connection but also an USB connector is available which can be used to upgrade the firmware.
Samsung states in their press release that making firmware upgrades easy will allow you to continually upgrade the BD-P1500 with the latest features
Those who have a good system can enjoy the players Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TruHD. DTS-HD High resolution is scheduled to available later this year via firmware update.
Besides playback of BD-ROM discs the player supports DVD-ROM, DVD-R(V mode only), DVD-RW (V/VR mode), Audio CD, CD-R and CD-RW discs.
The BD-P1500 will be available in June 2008 at an estimated price of $549.
