Sony Blu-ray player the BDP-S1 slips again to mid August

First we heard June 30, then in this press release a while back, the date was set for July. Well, a quick glance at the SonyStyle website today and you can read that they wont have the player available until August 15th at the earliest. With pre-recorded Blu-ray movie titles arriving this month to stores, it is a shame there will not be anyway to play them.

I guess they mean to say is, what you've been waiting for is still worth waiting some more for. Still, we have to wonder what the holdup is.

Sorry, this is flawed reasoning: a) Other players are due to be available in June / July, including the Samsung and Pioneer players, and b) It may be that Sony Style won't be first to get the Sony players, perhaps they're being reserved for high-end A/V stores.

They actually updated the date to August on Sony Style over a month ago. The Samsung Blu-ray player is still slated for a July release with the first Blu-ray movies. http://www.hdbeat.com/2006/04/21/sony-bdp-s1-blu-ray-player-available-for-pre-order/
