Sony HDR-HC7 HD camcorder reviewed @Digital Trends
Even if prices are not yet affordable for everyone, HD camcorders are becoming easier to find in the market, and Sony has a large array of models that can satisfy a wide range of users.

The HDR-HC7 model features a 10x optical zoom and a 20x digital zoom that, according to the review published at Digital Trends, should be used as less as possible because image quality degrades a lot with digital zoom.

This model is able to take high-def video at 1920 x 1080i, recording it to a mini DV cassette, not the best choice in my opinion, because the currently available flash memories can store a lot of video with a lower power consumption and a longer battery durability.

That camcorder is using miniDV and therefore the resolution it is recording to tape is only 1440x1080i.
