Sony NEC Optiarc will be showcasing a wide range of super-slim products at this year's CeBIT in Hannover. The event will start next week from the 4th till the 9th of March. Sony NEC Optiarc will demonstrate both DVD drives as Blu-ray Disc burners.
One of the plans is to show a Blu-ray Disc combination drive that enables users to watch HD films on their PC. All of the announcements that concern this year's CeBIT seem to have something to do with Blu-ray. Every company jumps in, since some web rumors indicate that not many are willing to buy. Are these rumors wrong and will everybody have a 'blue-player' soon?
Maybe we can help you with this question when we are at this year's CeBIT. Back in January Optiarc announced that they were going to launch a read-only drive for under €200. This was all announced at the CES fair, but now we can say that the combination drive is joined by a DVD burner for PCs that plays Blu-ray discs.
It seems that everything will be 'blu', but the question is how blu? And what will this offer, and is this an advantage?... More next week!
