Eat it! That's definatly what Sony and other companies are asking from us. As we said before everybody is either demonstrating or introducing Blu-ray products, but many consumers aren't believing the format yet.
To fill the market with more blue products, Sony announces the introduction of more Blu-ray players. Today the company announces that they will introduce their first Blu-ray player that can download bonus materials like trailers and games from the Internet. This introduction will take place next summer. Besides being the first player with online possibilities from Sony (except from the PS3), it's also their first player after they defeated Toshiba's HD DVD format.
Sony's newest Blu-ray player, the BDP-S350, will cost about $400 followed up by the $500 priced BDP-S550. The S350 will not have the BD-Live function when it ships, but an upgrade will be available later. After the summer the S550 will be introduced this fall together with BD-Live.
A picture-in-picture feature will be available for both and this means that the two will be the first, apart from the PS3, products from Sony to do so. A big problem that we can see already is the extreme high price. Once again Sony didn't listen to our discussions - will $400-500 be too much? And will this cost the format its existing monopoly, since substitutes like TiVo and Apple iTunes can easily do 'almost' the same?
PS for a Bluray "Upgrade" how about getting rid of region coding?!?!? .
