Sony launches Bravia V4000 TV's

Sony has send us a press release announcing the Sony Bravia V4000 series LCD TVs. These LCD TVs support full HD picture quality and are available at 40,46 and 52 inch. Other screen sizes will be available from later this year.

The Bravia 4000 series features  looks inspired by Sony’s draw the LINE design concept. Sony claims this to be a minimalist philosophy that accentuates the beautiful HD pictures being displayed without dominating your living space, even at larger screen sizes.

The TVs feature an integrated DVB-C/DVB-T tuner, three HDMI sockets, Bravia ENGINE 2 technology which Sony claims gives an unmatched richness and depth. The LCD panel offers a dynamic contrast ratio of 33000:1 (40-inch, 46-inch and 52-inch models).

The TVs also feature 24p True Cinema mode. This displays movies from Blu-ray Discs at the correct frame rate and thus the original speed. When the movie is not shown at the speed of the original studio master the picture quality and even the actors’ voices are distorted. 24p True Cinema eliminates this traditional problem caused by the conversion from theatrical presentation format to the frame rate that conventional televisions use.

DukeNukem@ Chuckwagon Oh, come on now. If it wasn't for me you'd have no comments to read on this site. Heh heh. Okay, fine. Bravia? Sounds like a country in Eastern Europe. The kind of place with food you can't pronounce. A DYNAMIC contrast ratio of 33,000 to 1. So, umm, I'm guessing that's Sony gibberish for 500 to 1 TRUE contrast. Thank you. I'm here all week. Please tip your waitress. Smilie

Hypnosis4U2NV@DukeNukem; Reminds me of the scene in EuroTrip when the kids end up in a Bratislava (similar sounding to Bravia) hotel. The waiter smacks the manager after they give him a nickle tip and tells him "AHH! A nickle! --You see this.. I quit! I open my own hotel." With that in mind Sir, I flip you a nickle! supergrin

DukeNukem@ Hypnosis4U2NV You surf the 'net using your Crackberry? Must make for quite the challenge when looking at porn, holding the device in one hand and your other device in the other hand. Sorry, I don't know what made me say that. I think I need to lower the dosage on my meds. Crap, the walls are melting. I gotta get outta here. Stick Out Tongue
