Sony tries to stop Messiah for PS2...

Dartainia used our newssubmit to tell us about a rather interesting and somewhat funny story:

SONY SOLICITORS CLAIM BREACH OF COPYRIGHT LAW WITH MESSIAH

Channel Technology received a letter from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe solicitors claiming breach of section 296 of the Copyright, designs and Patents act 1988 with respect to the Messiah design of upgrade which allows imported Playstation 2 / Playstation software, and 'backed up' Playstation 2 / Playstation software to run directly on the PS2 console without restriction.

Channel Technology were given 4 hours to reply to this letter to stop imminent legal proceedings, and this was carried out by return fax and confirmed telephone conversation with Sony's solicitor's immediately after receiving the letter.

Once legal advice has been gained, Channel Technology will make an announcement regarding its position and views to the matter.

Read more about this on the Channel Technology homepage.
