StarForce goes after Daemon Tools with FrontLine 4.7

Straight from the StarForce Headquarters: Center for thwarting people from running games from their hard disc drives, comes this news! Special thanks to mrdataNY who noticed this story as well.

News

FrontLine 4.7 '“ protection against the latest emulators!

The so called armaments drive continues on the DRM market.

There are some software emulators that allow experienced users to run protected applications from copies instead of original media.

For instance, it took Daemon Tools group eight months to announce a new version of their emulator.

To keep up with the clients' demand StarForce Technologies changes release plans.
StarForce FrontLine 4.7 will be launched in the middle of November. Earlier the plan for November was to release FrontLine 4.6.

StarForce FrontLine 4.7 will close the new Daemon Tools' issue as well as other modern emulators.

It is also important to mention the following changes: licenses deactivation and back-up copies capability '“ these will make easier life of the end-user.

New useful functions such as compression of protection libraries will make protection integration more convenient for our clients.

Keep up with client's demand? I didn't realize there was a problem, let alone a demand for such a thing! In fact, I read every now and again, how game companies are removing the StarForce technologies, as it is upsetting their paying customers and a boycott of such games is being organized. Seems to me if I was selling games, I would steer clear of things like this. At least, they should have to announce on the front of the package, that this action was taken, to stop emulation.

"licenses deactivation" .. "will make easier life of the end-user." Since when do end users want this?

tylauCD emulator tool company is in a position for a potential law suit against a product that is intentionally to break the operation of others products, lets wait and see. Wink

BetrayerXStarforce is pathetic...all they do is yap yap...I'm right and the rest of the world is wrong .... yadda yadda. I'd love to see even more companies drop this useless junk and for once doing something smart...like passing the saves of NOT USING STARFORCE to the consumer... I bet they'll sell more software with a cheaper price on hands.

AndyMutzjust one more reason not to buy any starforce protected games..

nature as a law that applies to all survival of the fitest simple really a company that is not selling its product due to overpricing and starforce included well............... no sale equals no company together we stand divided we fall.......

Should we start a list of all new games released on PC with starforce protection so that we can boycott those purchases?? That would be awesome if everyone did that. Probably wont happen on games that people really want to buy though.

StarFarce can die at any point now. Hell, some game companies are now doing the COMMON SENSE thing and releasing games without protection! Embarrassment Embarrassment WoW! Has Hell frozen over? Relic/THQ released their flagship product 'Company of Heroes' with no copy protection except the CD/DVD key. WoW - what a bloody concept. Use a LOT of common sense game companies! Games don't see because you hold back "potential" piracy, they SELL ON MERIT! Don't inconvenience yer buying public - we're more learned than you think. biggrin

nowdays, it is pain to play pc games; you have to install the game, patch, and deal with this lousy protection systems that not only wouldn't let me play my first atttempt, they usually slowed down the system somewhat. even worse, system requirements are ambiguous...whether i would get a slide show or an actual game even after the uninstalling games, i wasn't sure whether the copy protection system actually removed completely or not. no wonder many are defecting to console systems & ms's xbox didn't help on the pc games either btw !@#$ ati & nvidia for charging arms & legs for short lived graphic cards

"To keep up with the clients' demand StarForce Technologies changes release plans." You have to remember that StarForce's clients are NOT us, but the companies that uses their software for protection. We are not the client, we're the enemy.

"licenses deactivation and back-up copies capability '“ these will make easier life of the end-user" Errm, I think maybe Starforce might want to spend a bit of their copious cash on a PR guy/girl who can, well WRITE REAL ENGLISH! Aside from that - and by the way, I am not a PC gamer (consoles only) - my experience over decades is that the only software you never see pirated versions of is the software that was never copy protected in the first place. And there's a lesson in that for all of us Smilie
