TCL buys Go-video, Chinese companies try to get ground in US and Europe
Forbes reports that the Chinese TCL group has bought Go-Video an US company that makes video and DVD recorders. Chinese companies are currently trying to reach the US and European markets. They have had problems in the past because the Chinese were accussed of dumping their products on these markets as Chinese products are generally much cheaper due to lower manufacturing costs. By buying European and US companies they also pave the way to reach these markets.

Both Europe and the U.S. have proven tough markets for Chinese TV makers due to various trade barriers and other restrictions. TCL and a number of other major Chinese TV makers have recently been accused of dumping their products in the United States, in a case now playing out in Washington.

The Chinese firms have denied the accusation.
