The surprise Hot Seller in Taiwan: LG ROM Drives??
We all know that ROM drives rarely make any sense anymore now that DVD burner prices have dropped.  After all, ROM drives barely make up 10% of the market and are rarely included in new computers anymore.  But there has been a recent increase in demand for modified Nintendo Wii consoles in the Taiwanese market and this has resulted in a surprising increase in sales of LG DVD-ROM drives which are being used to creating copies of original game discs.

Even though the Wii has not yet been officially released in Taiwan, there are large numbers of these units imported privately.  And as we all know, counterfeit game discs sell for much less than the original legitimate versions.  With the increase in the use of mod chips which allow the consoles to run these unlicensed copies, the demand for the best reader will increase as well.  Apparently, LG's LG-8164b, LG-8163b and LG-8162b DVD-ROM drives are the most suitable drives to read from an original Wii disc.  Nice to see that good old Supply and Demand still work.

johnzapThese drives, together with an hardware adapter, are also very good to replace the original ones on Xbox1 consoles
