The war still rages. In the attempt to bring more end-consumers to the Blu-ray side, Samsung announced the BD-P1400 Blu-ray disc player. This standalone player offers a full compatibility with 24 fps playback, and this should reduce artifacts because most movies are filmed at 24 fps.
The player offers also the possibility to set the movie frame to 60, making it compatible with most of HDTV available in the market. It is also able to read CDs and DVDs, upscaling contents up to full HD 1080p resolution via the HDMI connection.
