Toshiba adds 60GB model to automotive HDD line
Cars are no longer only mechanic devices, but electronic components are already one of the main components of our vehicles. It is not more so uncommon to find in our cars applications requiring a data storage device (media centers or navigation systems for example) but a vehicle is a rather rough environment for electronic components, so it requires special equipment.

Toshiba developed an "automotive-grade" HDD line, small form factor drives purposely designed to work in rough conditions, and announced the addition of the 60GB model to the line. This sixth-generation 60GB automotive HDD (MK6050GAC) features the improved altitude specification of 5,500 meters.

More detailed drive specifications can be found in the official announcement (PDF file [44 KB]).
