Toshiba unveils its first DVD+/-RW DL mobile computer drive

Toshiba is continuing to lead the way in mobile opotical storage and unveils its first DVD+R DL drive for mobile computers. The SD6472 supports DVD+R DL up to 2.4x speed and is with its only 0.19 kg one of the lightest drives for mobile computers.

The SD-R6472 drive is the first Toshiba Samsung Storage Technologies (TSST) Slim Double-Layer DVD-Writer.

This drive is capable of writing and reading both "-" and "+" Standards, and writing 2,4x on DVD+R media - the fastest DL write speed of any slim DVD writer on the market.

This drive incorporates following technological advancements:

  • Automatic optimization of the drive's speed according to the quality of the disc.
  • Strengthening the write performance by extended laser power calibrations throughout the entire write process (i.e. not only once on the inner side of the disc)

The new high-end DVD can write up to:

  • - 2,4x DL DVD+R
  • - 8x DVD-/+R
  • - 4x on DVD-/+RW

For further information about this drive visit the Toshiba Homepage or if you already purchased this drive please post your experiences in our Recording Hardware Forum at Club CDFreaks.
