266x (times) WHAT? I have never been able to find out how fast is 1x, so to me 266x is worthless.

SeánThe speed of memory cards is measured in the same speed as data discs, i.e. a 40x card is the equivalent speed to a 40x CD. 1x is 150KB/sec, so 266x would be about 40MB/sec. The data speed in MB/sec is even mentioned in the feature list above.
