Traxdata launches 16x DVD+R DL media

Traxdata has announced the availability of its 16x DVD+R DL media, making it the quickest DVD+R DL media in Europe.  With a 16x DVD+R DL capable writer, this media reduces the recording time to just 10 minutes, almost half the time of the usual 20 minutes writing time for 8x DVD+R DL writing.  The disc capacity is 8.5GB and is capable of holding up to 4 hours of standard play DVD quality video, 16 hours VHS quality video or over 120 hours of MP3 audio.

Like other double layer DVD discs, the additional capacity allows one to use almost double the capacity on a single disc without the need to change or flip the disc and also for archiving a large quantity of data on fewer discs, while still providing compatibility with existing DVD-ROM drives.

The media is currently available in jewel boxes of 5.

jcusimano2Exactly, I don't understand why a company wastes money on speed when most of us care about quality. I could care less about burning a dvd fast if I can't watch my backup without choppy playback and a coaster in 1 year or less.
