Womble, Airhead, Jim Kiler, Savannah and even CyberDog used our news submit to tell us "Wohoo!"
Siting "complaints", this very large publisher has made it public that they intend to dicontinue the use of StarForce as a protection for their upcoming products. Possibly due to a combination of factors, such as the low level drivers used in the scheme, that some claim to hamper optical drive performance , along with security issue claims to compromised OS's due to the use of such low level drivers, lack of an uninstaller when games are removed, leaving the drivers behind. Or maybe it was bad publicity from the always amusing StarForce Forums, where they had once briefly posted links to a warezed product in an attempt to show what happens when you don't use their protection. Not to mention a $5 million dollar class action lawsuit in the works! Apparently, UbiSoft is going elsewhere to protect their interests. Good deal.
This just shows once again, that if the consumers complain loudly enough, especially if there is reason to complain, industry will make the wise choice! After all, with out us, the consumer, they are doomed. We must remember this and also the power of the Internet, to enable us to put out the word easily and inexpensively when we are not happy! Haven't they realized yet that this way they cannot protect their products ? Good luck, wasted time and money. By the way, SF was cracked and will be if needed, so I simply cannot understand why people have been crying so much about its low level drivers and security risks.
If one does not like those, then he/she should install the game from the ORIGINAL and use the crack, and that's it. It's not even piracy, so...
