First Software Vendor to Announce Successful Blu-ray Disc
Verification Testing
Taipei, Taiwan - June 28, 2006 - Ulead Systems Inc., a subsidiary of InterVideo Inc., today announced that Ulead's Blu-ray Disc recording applications for rewritable and recordable discs have been certified by the Sony Blu-ray Test Center. Format verification serves as a guarantee to users that products are fully compatible with Blu-ray Disc specifications and entitles authorized products to carry the Blu-ray Disc logo. Ulead and InterVideo® are the first software vendors to announce certification of their Blu-ray Disc applications.
"Ulead is proud to be the first recording application to sport the BD badge,"said Eldon C. M. Liu, president of Ulead. "Hi-capacity optical disc formats like Blu-ray Disc are key enabling technologies for the digital home and the next generation digital media experience. We look forward to inviting all of our retail and OEM customers to join us in riding this wave of the future.¡¨
Two Ulead applications received certification in the category of Rewritable and Recordable Recorder Application Software. Ulead BD DiscRecorder™ is bundled with Sony Corporation BD notebook and desktop PCs under the brand Ulead BD DiscRecorder for VAIO®. The application provides BD direct-to-disc recording to allow users to record high-definition video content from HDV camcorders, such as the Sony HDR-HC1 or HC3, to rewritable or recordable Blu-ray discs in full HDV resolution. Video may be recorded directly from camcorder to disc in real-time, or can be first captured to hard drive for editing. Discs are recorded in BDAV format and may contain nearly 2 hours of full-quality HDV video on a single-layer 25GB rewritable BD-RE or recordable BD-R disc.
Another application, StationTV Digital Disc Burning Extension, is software for Sony VAIO notebook and desktop PCs based on the Ulead Direct DiscRecorder™ Move SDK. The SDK supports the transfer of Japanese Digital TV content from hard drive to BD-RE media with AACS protection as well as DVD media with CPRM protection.
