steve45 and SaTaN used our newssubmit to tell us about a new ASPI package:
ASPI Driver package for Windows computers, to support third party hardware and software. Includes ASPI drivers version 4.70 for Windows 98, NT 4, Me, 2000 and XP. Also includes ASPICHK version checking utility.
But the best thing is, you don't need FreeASPI or ASPI4ALL anymore, v4.70 doesn't check if you own an adaptec product.

Anybody actually tried this yet???
I'm currently runnin WinXP Pro with the Forceaspi files. Is this better?
I'm a bit scared to install and find out!
Only just got the system stable again
It's probably cause adpatec has been bought out by MS.
I now have reservation about using the MS calculator as well.
According to the website, to download a 500kB file,it will 8-10 seconds on a 56Kb modem.
By my calculation, it will 64-80 seconds assuming it has the full bandwidth which it doesn't due to protocols, headers and error correction.
I installed the new aspi drivers yesterday and after that EAC wouldn't recognise a cd in the drive anymore. Guess adapcrap screwed up again. Went back to 4.60 and everything workd ok again..
