Xlnt Idea announces a disc publisher with embedded PC

Just recently, our reviewer Doug Schwantes carried out a review on the Nexis 100AP CD/DVD Publishing System, which is a user-friendly well-featured automated system for batch recording and printing of CDs and DVDs.  Now the company has announced a new Network Attach Nexis 100PC Publisher, which features an embedded PC, doing away with the need to attach the disc publishing system to a separate PC to operate, while still maintaining the footprint of its existing system that attaches to a PC.

It features a 60GB HDD, 1GB RAM. Gigabit Ethernet, embedded processor and XLNT Idea's Disc Direct and Disc Studio software applications preloaded.  The system can be either operated over the network using its upcoming network software or a third party package or directly by attaching a monitor, keyboard & mouse.

The press release is as follows:

Xlnt Idea, Inc announces Network Attach Nexis 100PC Publisher with embedded PC

XLNT Idea Inc., a leading US Based Manufacturer of DVD and CD Printing and Publishing Systems, announced the release of its Nexis 100PC system, a direct network attach DVD / CD automated publishing solution with an Embedded Processor, Hard Disk Drive and One Gig of RAM. Featuring a low profile PICO integrated PC with a GIG E Network Interface, the new Nexis 100PC provides the most economically priced “ turn key “ automated robotic DVD / CD creation system available today. XLNT Idea’s Disc Direct™ and Disc Studio™ software applications are preloaded on the embedded 60 GB HDD, allowing users to simply integrate a monitor, keyboard and mouse to begin disc publishing in standalone mode. Priced at an MSRP of $ 2695.00, the Nexis 100PC will be available from an XLNT Idea authorized VAR or Dealer Partner.

Dale K., VP of Engineering noted ” Nexis 100PC is designed with a unique internal configuration that allows us to maintain the original footprint of the Nexis 100DVD PC attach system, while dramatically increasing functionality. Users can either integrate it directly onto a network using third party or soon to be released XLNT network software, or install a monitor, keyboard and mouse and use as a standalone solution, or both. The 1 GHZ PICO processor combined with a Gig of RAM and 60 GB HDD provides more than enough support for a wide variety of applications.”

Chuck Alcon Jr, Director of Sales and Marketing added,” Our Design and Engineering Team continues to create new DVD / CD solutions for emerging markets that include Medical Imaging, On Demand Content Creation / Kiosk, Office Appliance, and even Storage, Back up and Archival, and more. We remain well positioned to provide our channel partners with the right system for virtually any customer requirement or environment. “

Further info on the manufacturer and its products can be found on its website.

Ok, so we addressed: the "proprietary" supplies and the Network intergration needs. [Which I'm sure CIOs are happy to read about] How long have they been a leading US Based Manufacturer of DVD and CD Printing and Publishing Systems. Looks to me we're dealing with OEM versions of things already out there. Service - how is that lovely issue handled. Box it up and send it back. Then I'm not a Reseller/VAR but Box pusher. What would be nice to see. Open Source applications that can enhance the units capabilities. Proprietary stills has a strangle hold on the Ops systems of these units. And no 2 are the same and their windows based machines, wonder if any are Vista ready? We've been through the Ink Jet phase. It's about time the print capabilities addressed more the dpi ratios. The gap between Silk print/Offset and Ink Jet is still large and untapped.
