iRiver iMP-150 ChromeX and NOMAD Jukebox 3 specs

Both iRiver and Creative have released press releases anouncing their latest products. First we will take a look at the iRiver iMP-150 ChromeX:

iRiver iMP-150 ChromeX:

The iMP-150 ChromeX plays standard audio CDs, enhanced CDs, user-recorded CD-Rs and CD-RW discs and supports MP3, WMA and ASF. It has upgradeable firmware and compressed audio shock protection: MP3/120 seconds, WMA/240 seconds, if you put a normal Audio CD in it, the shock protection is up to 40 seconds.

The device plays up to 16 hours with 2 AA batteries, or plays non-stop using an AC adapter. It has a high resolution graphic backlit LCD, remote control and an adjustable equalizer (5 preset & 1 user define)

The iRiver iMP-150 ChromeX will be available to North American consumers April 30. Suggested retail price is USD $99.99.

Creative Nomad Jukebox 3:

The Creative Nomad Jukebox 3 connects with your PC using the SB1394 (IEEE-1394 compatible) or USB 1.1 protcol. It has a second battery bay: when you add another battery it is able to play 22 hours without changing the batteries.


The Nomad 3 has an optical and analog Line-In and can encode directly into MP3 or WAV format in real time, and does not require a pre-amp source. It has a build in Harddrive of 20GB or 40GB. The device has an anti-skip protection that provides up to 7 minutes of protection to ensure smooth operation while on the move.

The device comes with a wide array of software to manage the files and to perform audio actions (Rip, play, sound effects) on the files.

The 20 GB version will be available at US$399.99. A 40GB version of the NOMAD Jukebox 3 is slated for online availability next month at US$499.99.

Nomad 3 has a Line-In but no recording level meters or overload indicators. Using a microphone to record will require a pre-amp.
