Not good! This 16x Optodisc DVD-R is only supported at 4x and the resulting write quality is not that great. We've seen much better results with this media on other drives that can support it properly at 16x writing speed.

This 8x certified Ritek disc was written at 12x by the ASUS DRW-1608P. The burn speed dropped to 8x near the end of the write process. ASUS might need to fine tune this 12x writing strategy further because the first test resulted in an unreadable disc. The second test shown here is an okay result.

Not good! This 8x DVD-R from Optodisc was unreadable in our NEC drive. We tried multiple discs and the results were the same: unreadable disc.

DVD-RW media compatibility and write quality:

The ASUS DRW-1608P should be able to write DVD-RW at 6x.

The ASUS DRW-1608 had no trouble writing to both the Verbatim and Ritek DVD-RW media at 6x. Now we will analyze the writing quality on DVD-RW media.

Ritek 4x DVD-RW performance is okay.

DVD-R/RW Performance Summary: The ASUS DRW-1608P is an excellent DVD-R/RW writer. The writing quality is very good across a range of media. We can clearly see that the support for DVD-R/RW media is much better than the support for DVD+R/RW. This is most likely because ASUS drives are powered by Pioneer techology. Pioneer, who is one of the most important members of the DVD Forum.

I bought it but it has problems on burned dvd's.
After a time some of them cannot be read, but on other druves work.
