Introduction:

PowerProducer 3 Deluxe is CyberLink's latest software to author and burn movies and photos onto DVD. Especially for the average home user, with many integrated, 'intelligent" features, this software should enable you to create your own professional looking DVDs.

Well, thanks to CyberLink who was kind enough to provide us with this software, we are now in the lucky position to test and to look a bit closer into PowerProducer 3 Deluxe.

We invite you to follow us through this review to find out if the software can hold up to CyberLinks' promises.

Company Information:

Founded in 1995, CyberLink Corp is a world leader and pioneer in bringing advanced digital video and audio software to the market. Producer of the world's leading DVD software player, PowerDVD, CyberLink also delivers complete solutions for the digital home and on-line learning solutions.

CyberLink's strength lies in its in-depth knowledge of digital video codecs and the company owns a number of patented digital video and audio technologies. Combined with extensive user-interface research, CyberLink has successfully launched multimedia applications that are robust and powerful, yet friendly enough for the non-professional users.

With customers spanning from multinational corporations, to small/medium sized businesses and power users to home users, CyberLink has enjoyed rapid growth and consistent profitability leading to a record breaking IPO in October of 2000, on the Taiwan Over The Counter Exchange (OTC: 5203). To keep up with market demands, CyberLink has operations in North America, Europe and the Asia Pacific region including Japan. CyberLink's worldwide headquarters are in Taipei and its Web site is located at www.goCyberlink.com.

Program Features:

If we take a closer look into the main features of this software then we quickly see that it offers not only the ability to author our video material in the standard formats, it also has some other interesting features to keep an eye on during this review.

The main program features are

  • Movie CD/DVD Creation
  • DVD
  • VCD
  • SCVD
  • Editable DVD
  • DivX
  • Right-to-disc
  • Edit disc
  • Disc utilities
  • Erase Disc
  • Copy Disc
  • Defragment Disc
  • Make Compatible
  • Burn From Disc Image
  • Save Disc Image
  • Burn from DVD-folder
  • Export file
  • Finalize/Unfinalize

To make the creation process as easy as possible and to get the best possible results, CyberLink integrated some so called 'Intelligent Features". These features should help support the user by making all the necessary settings required to reach the optimal quality for the available disc space and to make the rendering process as fast as possible. Here's a short explanation of some of these features given by CyberLink.

MPEG-at-Best: Capturing videos in real-time is a CPU intensive task. The higher the video quality, the more CPU power is needed. But just how many of us know what is the best video quality our computers can work with? With MPEG@Best, PowerProducer can dynamically maximize the use of  CPU capacity to capture video with the best quality in real-time capture mode

SmartFit:  As rule of thumb, bit rate is proportional to video quality, and the better the video quality, the larger the file size. Often times, it takes some calculation to figure out the best bit rate setting to fit your entire video on a DVD. With the SmartFit selection, PowerProducer will automatically set the best video quality for your available disc space.

Split Disc: Even if your videos are too large to fit into one disc, PowerProducer can automatically split your media files and burn onto multiple discs.

Looks interesting and be sure that we will have a look at these functions during this review.

In Cyberlink's Own Words:

CyberLink PowerProducer 3 is a powerful yet easy to use software to author and burn movies and photos onto DVDs. Specifically designed for the home users, PowerProducer 3 features advanced technologies and intelligent features to making the process of creating the movie disc fast and easy. No more long waits and unsuccessful trial and errors. Every DVDs produced ensures high quality video playback on the PC and DVD players.

Lets hope its better than PowerProducer 2.:c

The previous versions were terrible for sync error between the video and audio. Let's hope this is better!:(
Hey um.. the burning doesnt work for me. It says unspecified error. Im trying to burn a video i made and the files are from my camcorder. Can anyone help me please?

I have the same problem as Tommy (in Producer 2 Gold)
All steps no problem, then final step burning after 50%
creating folders etc etc. it ejects DVD and gives
unspecified error (nothing burned).

Removed software and registry keys then reinstalled and
i don't have the problem for 3 DVD's and then it returns.

Very strange.

Help!!! meu cyberLink não funciona bem os efeitos não surgem para minha escolha. Mostra mensagem pra eu comprar mais porque se nem testei o programa? :c
I have the same problen as Tommy and Jelle when trying to create the final output I get to 10% complete and thats it. Alaso option to create a DVD image or DVD folder are not available.

Put a support request bto Cyberlink and am waiting a response.
Got the problem as Tommy, Jelle & John - really getting fed up with it now!
I don't like the title screen and PD 3 gives me no option to remove it as it makes my DVD player crash.
I love the product for producing quality DVD files from VCR but I dont use the smart facility. What I do is use the HQ VCR capture function and let it run. At the end I save it all the DVD folder and once it is all saved I run it through DVD shrink that not only shrinks it to the 4.7 size I need for burning but it also allows me to re author the disc and I can get rid of the stupid title image. Once re authored and shrunk I burn it to nti or nero and I have a great vcr to dvd conversion. I know it sounds messy but I only use the best bit of the software which is being able to encode analogue video to DVD directly with no double conversion loss you get with other capture software out there. So for the bit of it I use 5 stars...Hope that helps ...Simon :g
This program frrezes all the time and keeps coming up program not responding. When I start it it comes up some shit about update address incorrect etc.....

Please help :(
