Produce Movie Disc: Part 3 - Menus and Chapters

Menus:

By clicking on the menu button, PowerProducer quickly opens a window where we are able to add and edit our menu.

On the left side of the window there is the section where we can choose the style of our DVD menu. If we are in hurry or are simply too lazy to create a custom menu we can select one of the predefined menus by clicking on the Templates button.

CyberLink has created a lots of menu templates which can be sorted by several different genres. So we don't have to browse all of the available menus and can quickly choose the one we want. In our case, one of the nice looking motion style menus.

The only little limitation which we have found here is that we can't edit the button layout, button-style and the frame type. Anyway, the predefined templates are looking good and there is not really a need to edit them again.

To create our own menus is a bit more, but not difficult work. A picture is quickly added and all we have to do now is to select the number of buttons, the button and frame type and last but not least the button style. It's really not a big thing.

The title of the menu and the clips itself is also finished quickly. Simply double clicking on the text can do the job for us.

Before it comes to add the background music and in case that we have more menu pages, we then can apply to save these settings for the other pages as well.

Adding the background music works in the same way as we have seen in the photo slideshows section before. In case we have a multi page menu we can apply the same title with all the settings also for the other menus.

Menu creation and editing is now done and we only need to set up the chapters before we start with the final movie creation.

Chapters:

Setting up the chapters can be done in two different ways. We can set the chapters evenly or we allow the software to set the chapters by scene detection.

We see that it's not difficult, but we have noticed that any action in this section of the program causes a lot of additional menu pages in the final DVD. OK, this isn't a big problem but it can be annoying when you want to start the main movie and you find yourself again in a chapter menu. So we can only suggest setting the chapters with other software or with PowerDirector.

Well, let's continue with the final output.

Lets hope its better than PowerProducer 2.:c

The previous versions were terrible for sync error between the video and audio. Let's hope this is better!:(
Hey um.. the burning doesnt work for me. It says unspecified error. Im trying to burn a video i made and the files are from my camcorder. Can anyone help me please?

I have the same problem as Tommy (in Producer 2 Gold)
All steps no problem, then final step burning after 50%
creating folders etc etc. it ejects DVD and gives
unspecified error (nothing burned).

Removed software and registry keys then reinstalled and
i don't have the problem for 3 DVD's and then it returns.

Very strange.

Help!!! meu cyberLink não funciona bem os efeitos não surgem para minha escolha. Mostra mensagem pra eu comprar mais porque se nem testei o programa? :c
I have the same problen as Tommy and Jelle when trying to create the final output I get to 10% complete and thats it. Alaso option to create a DVD image or DVD folder are not available.

Put a support request bto Cyberlink and am waiting a response.
Got the problem as Tommy, Jelle & John - really getting fed up with it now!
I don't like the title screen and PD 3 gives me no option to remove it as it makes my DVD player crash.
I love the product for producing quality DVD files from VCR but I dont use the smart facility. What I do is use the HQ VCR capture function and let it run. At the end I save it all the DVD folder and once it is all saved I run it through DVD shrink that not only shrinks it to the 4.7 size I need for burning but it also allows me to re author the disc and I can get rid of the stupid title image. Once re authored and shrunk I burn it to nti or nero and I have a great vcr to dvd conversion. I know it sounds messy but I only use the best bit of the software which is being able to encode analogue video to DVD directly with no double conversion loss you get with other capture software out there. So for the bit of it I use 5 stars...Hope that helps ...Simon :g
This program frrezes all the time and keeps coming up program not responding. When I start it it comes up some shit about update address incorrect etc.....
