Negative:
- Does not support Mt. Rainier
- Requires 8x certified DVD+R DL media to write at 8x
- Supports CD-RW writing only at 24x
- Reads CD-RW DVD±R DL/DVD-Video DL only at 32x/8x/8x
- Green LED for both reading and writing
- Supports DVD-RW 6x media with RiTEK MID at only 4x (with the current firmware)
Conclusion:
To sum it all up, this is what we would say:
'Even though the reading and writing performance on CD-RWs is not 'up to date" '? the drive is still interesting - including the Bitsetting and quality scanning features.
All the Lite-On SHW-1635S written DVD media in this article achieved a quality score of 90 and above. "
By using our price grabber feature cdfreaks.pricegrabber we did not find any offers and the same goes for the getprice feature. But at a local German PC-shop the drive is listed at 53.90 €. (2. October 2005).

It surely looks like CLV to me ... also the image says the same!
Very concerned about the dip during the 16x burns which results in a jump in jitter ... also overall high jitter, which usually mean poorly tuned writestrats and also lower disc lifetimes. Also - overall quality was shocking with some discs.
Wonder why you used a BenQ to scan? For speed only? I find BenQ tend to be less sensitive on some dyes (RICOHJPNR01 in my experience has less errors on BenQ than LiteOn) and heavily error on some others. Still trusting a LiteOn. Your efforts are appreciated a lot!
