Positives and Negatives of Handy Backup

Positives:

  • Retailing at $30 it is a very powerful program for the cost
  • Easy to use and understand
  • Various mediums available to back up onto give a wide choice to the users
  • The automation of as many different Backup, Restore or Synchronize items as you require will be great for businesses
  • Very quick in most of the tests that I performed on the program
  • Help file is easy to read and understand. It comes complete with pictures and guides for newcomers which will make using the program easy

Negatives:

  • No DVD Support. With the increase of DVD burners around, this is a must for the next release
  •  No CD option in the Synchronize mode. I would have felt that with either multi-session CDR's or CDRW's, this is an option that could have been implemented
  • The possible deletion of files in Synchronize mode would be a worry if you inadvertently put your files in the wrong directory or moved it straight to the backup folder

Next we'll take a look at my conclustions for this program...

I agree with the review, it's a great proggy for 30$ I tested a lot of other and I love the possibility to save under muti-zip with password, this way you can't loose the whole backup if corruption occur. :g

I have bought this program a few week's ago, I am 100% satisfied with it and I recomend it!

www.handybackup.net - software for backup to dvd :)
Yep, I never actually worried about all this backup software, but some time ago I decided to back up my photo archive to DVD. I had a plan to test several backup utilities, and as it came to Handy Backup, I surprisingly found out that there are DIFFERENT Handy Backups in the Net.

It took some time for me to figure out that the one I downloaded from handybackup.dotcom (Handy Backup 4.0) seems to be simply one of the earlier versions of HB 5.7 - the one at handybackup.net. Its interface is more complicated and its feature set is noticeably worse than those of Handy Backup 5.7 (by the way, it's available for download at numerous websites created for different languages speakers: handybackup.fr, haendybackup.de, handybackup.ru, etc. - I found this fact quite funny and cute:)) It can backup to dvd (http://www.handybackup.net/backup-to-dvd.shtml), and what about the other features I especially liked the ability to make online backups.

Please mind this mix up, and download the newer version:)
