The specifications state that the drive should be able to write CD-Rs at 48x and CD-RWs at 24x:


The Lite-On EZ-DUB SHW-1635SU uses CAV (Constant Angular Velocity) to write CD-R's at 48x. This gives an average writing speed of 37.32x and a writing time of 2 minutes and 36 seconds.


The Lite-On EZ-DUB SHW-1635SU uses Z-CLV, (Zone-Constant Linear Velocity) to write CD-RWs at 24x. The average speed is 22.61x and total writing time is 3 minutes and 58 seconds.

In this mini-review, we did not include any quality scans of the CD-R/RW discs.

 

DVD-Writing performance:


The specifications of this drive tell us that it should write DVD+R DL/-R DL at 8x/4x, DVD±R at 16x and DVD+RW/-RW at 8x/6x.

DVD+R at 16x:



The Lite-On EZ-DUB SHW-1635SU uses CAV (Constant Angular Velocity) to write DVD+R at 16x. This gives an average writing speed of 11.97x and a writing time of 6 minutes.

We can see the disc got a PI Average of 62.18 and PIF Average of 0.04.



Maxell 16x DVD+R media, average writing speed of 11.97x, and a writing time of 6 minutes and 8 seconds.

The KProbe scan shows a PI average of 0.25 and PIF average of 0.02.



Philips 16x DVD+R media, average writing speed of 11.95x, and a writing time of 6 minutes and 6 seconds.

The KProbe scan shows a PI average of 2.35 and PIF average of 0.01.



TDK 16x DVD+R media, average writing speed of 11.96x, and a writing time of 6 minutes and 9 seconds.
