The average PI/PIF results are almost equal and the reading curves are very good.

This is interesting. The stock firmware burned this disc at 4x and the modified firmware at 12x - meaning it is 7 minutes and 55 seconds faster. And from the quality result - we can see that the modified firmware did a better job on average PI and PIF errors. Both discs shows an very good reading curve though.

We believe the media burned with the modified firmware came from a bad batch since there are no relations when we compare it to the one burned with the stock firmware. And we can clearly see that average PI error is very high on the disc burned with the modified firmware.

"...in most cases the STOCK firmware has the edge on quality, showing fewer errors on a burned media."

To me, this is the most important thing,
in other words this is what counts, not, let's say, the like 0,37% write speed gain and kinda "saved" 7-8 seconds.
Mostly, I have something else to do when burning stuff.

An excellent comparison article. This is the sort of information I like to see:)
Great info, but I'd also like to see data READ capability compared, too.
Thank you so much for this comparison. I really liked the side by side comparisons.

Excellent Job.
