The stock firmware gave less PI errors and more PIF errors then the modified firmware - then again it was burned at 12x versus the 8x with the stock firmware - (2 minutes and 45 seconds faster). Both burns showed an excellent reading curve.

The stock firmware gave less PI errors then the modified firmware - then again it was burned at 12x versus the 8x with the stock firmware - (2 minutes and 56 seconds faster). The reading curve showed a minor slowdown at the end of the media, but nothing serious.

The stock firmware gave more PI errors and less PIF errors then the modified firmware. This time the modified firmware slowed down the writing speed and therefore it took longer to burn this media. The reading curve on the stock firmware shows some slowdown at the end of the disc. The other disc got a perfect reading curve.

The scans made with the stock firmware written disc got less PI errors but more PIF errors. The stock firmware also slowed down the burn process at the end of the disc to 8x. The reading curves are very good on both discs though.

To me, this is the most important thing,
in other words this is what counts, not, let's say, the like 0,37% write speed gain and kinda "saved" 7-8 seconds.
Mostly, I have something else to do when burning stuff.

my nec3520a works excelent now. i tried burning dvd-r at 16x and it works excelent. before i had problems. i tried for the first time to write one image of 7.5 gb on one dvd+r dl verbatim. on read test it did not make it. sugestions? :r
