Test Machine:
As this is a standalone DVD Player which is not
dependent on a PC to operate, the only thing important in this case is what is
used to display the picture as well as to capture the images as
screenshots.
Displays:
- Panasonic PT-AE500E Projector
- 720p native (1280 x 720)
- Test using player's SVHS, Component and HDMI outputs
- ViewSonic ViewPanel VG150
- 1024 x 768 native
- Test using VGA input
Capture methods:
- Hauppauge WinTV 878 PVR (to capture screenshots)
- NYTECH ND-6360 6.36 Megapixel CCD camera (for partial screenshots of HD modes)
As we have no means of capturing a HD video stream, a digital camera with a tripod is used to capture close-up screenshots to show detail. Unfortunately, as the camera cannot capture the colour correctly, the player's colour rendering cannot be judged based on the photos shown later in this review.
Features and techniques:
These are the features of this drive, found at
the NeoDigits webpage:

Is there any chance that in future standalone player reviews that you could run the HQV benchmark which tests deinterlacing and progressive flag recognition abilities of the player? You can get the test disc here for $50 including international shipping or $30 plus shipping if you're in the US or Canada: http://www.hqv.com/
Keep up the good work guys.
