When choosing any of the main buttons (Read to ImageFile, Write from ImageFile, Copy CD or Erase CD) you can choose which drive you want to use for the process:

When right clicking on any drive a small window will appear with some options. Notice that a CD-reader has an icon with glasses and a CD-writer an icon with a pencil:

- Settings ... : Settings of the current drive.
- Eject ... : Opens the CD-tray.
- Close Tray : Closes the CD-tray.
- What's This? : Some more info about the current screen.
All options are pretty self-explaining. The 'Settings ...' option will take you to the advanced settings of the currently selected drive:

These options should be pretty familiar for experienced CloneCD users. In this screen you can select if you want to allow the drive to read SubChannel Data and if you want the drive to read CD-text. The next screen is also very familiar:

Here we see the well known 'Fast Error Skip' settings. Please note that every drive now uses its own settings (hardware dependant). The settings listed here only apply to the, in this case, selected Mitsumi writer.

I don't see how a new installation-procedure will benefit the user at all!
In fact, this "new" version doesn't seem to have so much more to offer that the old version doesn't already have!
It's nice though that he's trying to make it more user-friendly for the newbies!
The only thing I care about in CloneCD is the copy-protection stuff (duh, that's what the proggy is for) but I guess we'll have to wait for the full version to see if there are any changes...
If there isn't, I don't really see any point in upgrading...
This seems more like a version made for the beginners, us hardcore peeps can stick with the old version, he he! :7

Otherwise .. it looks nice, but not much news for the hardcore CloneCD users !

Clone cd is a high quality program deep respect for oli and his team who delevoped it.

But so far CD-Cops and Tagès is still a no-go......

There is also a new feature in this CloneCD that is really intresting. When you read for e.g a SafeDisc protected CD, CloneCD will find the first weak sectors, then slow down and check again, after several reads it will know if the sector is really weak and start to check the next one, if it finds several weak sectors it will guess the CD is protected and skip a lot of them. BUT !!! This would normally mean it would also skip good sectors, and thats the trick, this new version will automagically notice that the weak sector part is finished and start read normally again. This could make for some protections and readers the reading process a lot faster...
And that's intresting...

Can't wait till this new version can be downloaded as a trial! :9

But this is one step forward in its development, making it available to the average consumer. This will put CloneCD right on the map with Easy CD Creator and Nero as far as the average consumer is concerned (the expert users already knew this program to be tops).

That was a thing that CD-Mate did before CloneCD: make the copy process easier.
Well, Uhm technical review? We will wait for the official version with that

well done.

Fantastic job Olli, love the new graphics

When the oficila version comes out review its copying abilities!!!
ps-> how i determine the best error corrections settings for my yamaha 2200e(20/10/40)?!?:0

To date I have always used CloneCD to "clone" or copy audio CDs. So why DAE?
Again my thanks to Ollie!

"A) The world's first preview of CloneCD v4.x (actual version 3.5.3.4)"
It looks the same as the 3.5 CD Freaks looked at. Are they calling it 4.0 just to hype it up or what?

There is currently no official name for the CloneCD version. To us it was introduced as CloneCD X, I have also seen it distributed on CD as CloneCD 4. They are all the same, but as you know Ian, someone always wants to be world exclusive

Ian I can therefore say that CDRInfo does not have CloneCD 4 if they are using 3.5.3.4 and they're hyping things up. Btw I don't see their review on their site?
Regards,
GF

It could very well be that this will become version 4, but then again, it is also possible that the real version 4 has yet to be developed. By calling it version 4 they are trying to claim a scoop, while in fact it isn't (well, not for them, it was for us, they posted tthis at March 16, while our review was posted on March 15, 1 day before CDR Info...

... until I installed Perfect Copy SRIII.
After installation I immediately went to a disk that I hadn't been able to successfully after 5 or 6 attempts. Needless to say, the copy turned out PERFECT!!:G Now, I am a MOST satisfied CloneCD user, again!!!:4
