Below you will see the contents of the retail box:

Along with the drive the retail bundle includes:

  • Power cord
  • USB 2.0 cable
  • User's Manual
  • Nero OEM Suite
  •   Sonic MyDVD 5.3

Now it's time to take a look at the drive itself:

The Optorite drive sports a sleek and compact design.

On the back of the drive there is a connector for the power cord and the USB cable.

The top is emblazoned with the Optorite logo.

On the bottom of the drive is a label showing the drive was manufactured in China with no date of manufacture indicated.

The drive was installed without any problems and here is a screenshot from Nero info tool:

From this screenshot we see a 2mb buffer, no support for Mt. Rainier, no support for reading/writing DL media or reading/writing DVD-RAM. Our drive came shipped with firmware E010.

And another shot from Nero Burning ROM:

Nothing out of the ordinary here.

So, let's continue with the review and see how this drive really performs.

On the next page we will take a look at the test machine, the software, the drive features and the included software…………
