Conclusion:
Are you getting
bored of the current LightScribe media with the Gold/Sepia labeling surface?
Then these new coloured lightsribe discs would certaintly be something for
you.
With five different colours there should be something for every occasion and purpose.
We would recommend using the HP ELCU - Extended Label Contrast Utility in Best mode while writing the LightScribe Color media, as the contrast tends to be better this way on the coloured surface.
In closing this article, we would like to ask an interesting unanswered question. Will we ever see a LightScribe media available in full (multi)colour?
How is the pricing and availability for these new Coloured LightScribe media? We will give you examples from Germany:
- 10 pcs Philips CD-R LightScribe v1.2 color mix pack - around 7 EUR
- 25 pcs Primeon CD-R LightScribe v1.2 color mix spindle - around 12 EUR

Personally, I welcome the change of background colours, even though I don't think it's a massively big deal, the price difference is fairly small, and it breaks the monotony.

Printers and ink are dirt cheap. The latest Canon iP4300 is $70 and the carts can be refilled for $1 per cart.
Eventually Lightscribe will surpass inkjet printables....I hope.

For this reason I love lightscribe even with its limitations, FYI there is a download on www.lightscribe.com which increases the contract of lightscribe burners, it works too.

I don't mean that to stop using the printer when its arrives. We will have to check the quality and see how usefull it can be...

thx
