DVD+R DL at 10x:



The Plextor PX-755A uses P-CAV (Partial-Constant Angular Velocity) to write DVD+R DL at 10x. The average speed is 8.57x and total writing time is 14:26 minutes.

The BenQ DW1655 did not like this Plextor burned media, as we also see that 26.619 PO-Failures was reported and the quality score 0. Let us try to scan this Plextor burned media with some other drives:

Much better, the Lite-On reported some high spikes here and there together with some high spikes at the layer change. The quality score is 64.

No problems found or reported while using Plextools and the Plextor PX-755A on the Verbatim DVD+R DL 8x burned at 10x.

But let us try another disc at 10x:

Some slowdowns, compared to the first result.

The scan above shows a high spike just after the layer change, but should not cause any serious problems.

DVD+R DL at 8x:



The Plextor PX-755A uses P-CAV (Partial-Constant Angular Velocity) to write DVD+R DL at 8x. The average speed is 7.08x and total writing time is 17 minutes and 16 seconds. (The average speed and total writing time could have been better, since our test-drive slowed down the writing speed at some points).

Above, a Nero CD-DVD Speed Disc Quality scan and we can see the disc got a Quality score of 93.

DVD+R DL at 6x:



The Plextor PX-755A uses CLV (Constant Linear Velocity) to write DVD+R DL at 6x. The average speed is 5.96x and total writing time is 18 minutes and 54 seconds.

Due to the PIF spike shortly after the layer break the disc got a quality score of 70.

DVD-R DL at 6x:



The Plextor PX-755A uses CLV, (Constant Linear Velocity) to write DVD-R DL at 6x. This gives an average writing speed of 5.92x, and a writing time of 18 minutes and 46 seconds.

The Verbatim 4x DVD-R DL disc burned at 6x got a quality score of 92.

DVD-R DL at 4x:



The Plextor PX-755A uses CLV, (Constant Linear Velocity) to write DVD-R DL at 4x. This gives an average writing speed of 3.98x, and a writing time of 27 minutes and 10 seconds.

The Traxdata 4x DVD-R DL disc burned at 4x got a quality score of 73.

This drive sounds like a worthy update to the defective prone, although great when it works 716A.

Will be curious about the upcoming 760...
No STATA, No LightScribe... blah..
