Now that we've taken a look at what Ahead has planned for us with
their new Nero Burning ROM 6 package it's time for a conclusion. I must say that
I became quite impressed during my first tests with the new Nero 6 package. It
offers a lot of different software tools and, in my opinion, they're all very
well designed so that everyone, even novice users, can understand how the
software works.
The main program of the Nero 6 package is of course the Nero Burning
ROM software. Although, in theory, it hasn't changed much compared to Nero
Burning ROM 5.5, the new design changes are very welcome. Nero 6 is now fully
integrated with Nero Express which I think is a good thing. In Nero 5.5 users
had the possibility to choose between the Nero Wizard and Nero Express which
could lead to some confusion. This possibility has now been eliminated.
Experienced users will probably use Nero Burning ROM while beginners will use
Nero Express. Another welcome addition to the Nero package is the StartSmart
software with which you can easily select the task you want to do after which
the proper software is automatically started.
The Nero 6 package of course offers much, much more than only the
Burning ROM software. During our preview you could see that Ahead has added a
lot of interesting and handy tools to their package so that you can perform
every task you want. You can now create, author and burn any CD and/or DVD
compilation you want, packet writing is no problem and even playing your CD/DVD
compilations is possible with the Nero Media Player and Nero ShowTime.
All in all I think the Nero Burning ROM 6 package has definitely been
worth the wait. The package is of course not free of charge and comes at quite a
high price (79,99USD (boxed version) or 59.99 (download version)) but
considering that Nero offers everything you can think of, the price is well
worth it.
Nero Burning ROM 6 is expected to be available on the Ahead website on July 18th while it will be available at major retailers on August 18th. Last but not least we would like to thank Ahead Software for sending us this preview version of Nero Burning ROM 6.

How come you didn't (get to) preview NeroMix? Seems only to be available in the U.S. (Ultra edition) for some reason.

I just hope this won't be as bloated and as buggy as Easy Coaster Creator
.
And I see no mention of support for the excellent Ogg Vorbis and FLAC audio formats. But they still support this crappy WMA
.

(Hint, Hint, Elby come out with a package software that is 1 app that does it all).
Later all

I thought it had been reported that 'relax joliet restrictions' in 5.5 did not actually work properly - can anyone confirm this?

- support for the romeo file format
- a possibility to save thewindow layout on exit

Also, whats the max characters I can have in a file name after selecting this option.
I have a habit of giving very long names to files & so for burning my personal data I use RecordNow Max as it allows 200+ characters in a file name.

Most of the time the 'BURN' option is shaded out.
Ugly old fashioned software.
