The Nero Burning ROM 6 package has a lot of small software items which are very handy. Below you can find a brief overview of these software tools and their possibilities:

Nero Cover Designer:

The Nero Cover Designer could already be found in the Nero Burning ROM 5.5 package. In Nero 6 the handy tool to create your own Standard, DVD case, Multi Box, Maxi, Slim Pack, Mini CD, Biz Card and Rectangle Biz Card covers with, is still present but has also undergone some design changes:

Nero ImageDrive:

ImageDrive icon As the name of this tool suggests, Nero ImageDrive is a tool with which you can add two virtual drives to your system and use them to mount Nero (*.NRG) images with.

Note that the Nero ImageDrive software is only available in the retail version of Nero Burning ROM.

Nero SoundTrax/Wave Editor:

Nero SoundTrax is a tool to produce your own professional audio discs. With SoundTrax you can record audio clips, add your own audio material, mix different audio clips, add audio effects and crossfading and write your own audio project. Besides that you can use the software to create audio tracks, set index marks and insert pauses.

Nero SoundTrax is fully integrated with the Nero Wave Editor. With Wave Editor you can lay a filter over audio tracks in order to modify them.

Nero Toolkit:

The Nero Toolkit was of course already present in previous Nero versions. With the Toolkit you can test the performance of your drives and retrieve information from your computer system. The Nero Toolkit includes Nero CD/DVD Speed (speed measurement), Nero DriveSpeed (control the read speed of your CD/DVD drives on-the-fly) and Nero InfoTool (retrieves information from your drives and system):

InCD:

InCD icon Another software item that we're already familiar with, is Ahead's packet writing software InCD. With InCD you can convert your CD-RW and DVD±RW discs into small hard disks meaning that you can add and delete files from them on-the-fly. InCD also supports the Mount-Rainier (CD-MRW) format.

As you can see the format window now has a more professional look when compared to previous InCD versions. Another new thing is that InCD 4 is integrated into the Windows shell:

Thanks for the sneak preview.
How come you didn't (get to) preview NeroMix? Seems only to be available in the U.S. (Ultra edition) for some reason.
sorry,

interesting preview and yes Nero 6 looks nice but frankly I dont find it nice enough to shell out 59.00-79.00 particularly since I have yet to see a version of InCD 4 that works properly.
Thanks for the excellent review. Great job as always!

I just hope this won't be as bloated and as buggy as Easy Coaster Creator :r.

And I see no mention of support for the excellent Ogg Vorbis and FLAC audio formats. But they still support this crappy WMA :r.
My opinion is for the 59-79 I would expect a program that can copy any protection like CloneCD or CDmate does and a DVD movie copier like DVDXCopy or CloneDVD all in one package.

(Hint, Hint, Elby come out with a package software that is 1 app that does it all).

Later all

Is Nero 6 going to be limited to the Joliet file format which only supports up to 64 characters for file names? Or will it support the ability to create files with file names larger than 64 characters?

cya
One more thing: I agree that the price is high... but that's not a problem. For that price you can buy a new cd burner with Nero 6 bundled :B

cya
When creating a new compilation you indeed have an option called 'Relax Joliet restrictions' under which an option is available that says 'allow more than 64 characters for Joliet names'.

I thought it had been reported that 'relax joliet restrictions' in 5.5 did not actually work properly - can anyone confirm this?
What about ISO-9660 version 2?
what i like to see in nero6:
- support for the romeo file format
- a possibility to save thewindow layout on exit
Well, will there be any compatibility problems if I select 'allow more than 64 characters for Joliet names'.

Also, whats the max characters I can have in a file name after selecting this option.

I have a habit of giving very long names to files & so for burning my personal data I use RecordNow Max as it allows 200+ characters in a file name.
:)
ISO-9660 v2 is supported!!!
Totally un-reliable.
Most of the time the 'BURN' option is shaded out.
Ugly old fashioned software.:o
:*
ya
Nero BackItUP in Nero 6 is garbage. it sucks. It doesn't support selected restore of what you backed up. WTF????
