- Changing the booktype to DVD-ROM on DVD+R media not possible with the current firmware
Conclusion:
Let us summarize the most important positive and negative points below:
The main positive points: The write quality made on the DVD media in this preview is good. (At the moment we can not state this as a 100% overall, while not enough media was tested out in this preview, to draw such a conclusion). The software include with the drive is good both for beginners and advanced users. And as last point - the very good install and user documentation.
The main negative points: The retail box does not include any IDE cable. And the included blank media is not certified to the burner's specifications. (A DVD+R 16x media and a DVD-R 8x media would have been the right thing). Another negative point is the lack of ability to burn DVD+R 4x/8x at 12x/16x. But we guess - quality before speed. And as last point, the drive could not burn a Philips DVD+R 16x certified media at 16x.
