Re Writing performance

Re-Writing data:

For this test we set up a new compilation containing 650Mb of data in Nero Burning ROM. We used the DAO (Disc At Once) writing method. In the screenshot below you can see the burn process completed successfully.

The Samsung SM-352B used 3 minutes and 46 seconds for writing the disc at 24X, let us compare this to some other writers; The Lite-On LTC-48161H using CAV(Constant Angular Velocity) writing tech used 4 minutes and 56 seconds to write the disc, the Plextor PX-708A which uses P-CAV(Partial Constant Angular Velocity) writing strategy used 3 minutes and 43 seconds to write the disc and the Optorite CW-5205 using the CLV(Constant Linear Velocity) write strategy used 3 minutes and 45 seconds. As we could see there is just a few seconds separating the 3 best drives while the Lite-On is completely set aside.

Packet writing:

Now it's time to take a look at the packet writing performance of the Samsung SM-352B. We used Ahead's InCD to format and write 401 MB (421 003 264 bytes) data to the disc.

The Samsung did very well in the packet writing test and were among the best drives, let us see if this is the case with Mount Rainer packet writing as well. If you want to read more about the CD-MRW format, please read our Mount Rainer article.

The Mount Rainer performance was very good and is among the best we have seen from any drive.

Before we round off this review, let us run the drive through some advanced tests at next page…

Samsung has (for some uknown reason) reduced reading speed with CDR and CDRW media in the latest firmware revisions (T806/T807). Previosly reading CDRW media maxed out at 48x-49x.
CDR media reading speed maxed out at 42x but long press on eject button would enable 52x max speed... Maybe they just wanted to reduce wear and tear so the drive better survives 1 year warranty period :)
In one thing the review has a 100% opinion: The Samsung CD-R´s from Plasmon are pure trash :)
My computer is having XP operating system and is detecting CDRW combo "SM352^" but not reading any disc. Tried to trouble shoot but stating "CD rom cannot be started (error code 10).
When we Boot system from CD Rom is also not detecting Bootable CD through cmos setup.
Please help
Hello
I have a Samsung TSSTcorp CDW/DVD SH-M522C
Version: TS07 combo drive.
It can read all CDs written at slower speeds, but cannot read data CDs written at 42x--whereas it can read the Installation CDs for various peripherals and the Audio CDs written at high speeds by Neero7.

On the other hand, there is no option available in Nero 7 to write data CDs at less than the default speed-- which is 42x.

Samsung Support staff has so far failed to reply to my Query.
Kindly mail your solution, if any, directly to:
themissociijuris@yahoo.com
Thanks in advance!
